Expression through color and concept have been a constant throughout my life. When visiting my family in North Carolina, my grandfather loves to tell stories of my mischievious artistic acts as a child.

His favorite story always begins with a hearty chuckle that turns into a sheepish grin as he explains that while putting me down for a nap, he was the first to fall asleep — "and when I woke up, Kelly Lane was sitting on my chest with the pen from my pocket making drawings all over my shirt!"

During childhood, my canvases were many: smooth, concrete basement floors in my parents' new home, textured wall-paper in the hallways, etc.

My passion to create led to two degrees in Graphic Design. The first a Bachelors from North Carolina State University and the second a Masters from Carnegie Mellon University.

In the summer of 2005, I discovered a new canvas — one that unleashed the same child-like, creative energy my granddad likes to remind me of. With a new sewing machine given to me as a gift from my husband, I gladly traded in eleven years with a Mac for a Singer.

A year later, I launched my first line, Kelly Lane: Clothing with Color. Through this line, I, like my grandfather and his colorful stories, seek to enhance your true colors.
